San Juan River 4 days 3 nights

Day 1. Arrive Sabalos Lodge.

Your adventure starts by traveling through area once known as the Gold Rout to California. This trip is guided by a captain that is an expert in the river and knowledgeable of all the regional legends and who knows the location of the burrows of the animals that live on the river banks, such as otters, alligator, etc. Also, you will be able to observe a vast variety of monkeys and an enormous diversity of migrating birds, such as eagles, falcons, blue jays, herons, etc.

Arrive at SABALOS LODGE before lunch and have a free afternoon to enjoy the environment.

Free activities you can enjoy at SABALOS LODGE:

A series of walking paths surround the Lodge are prime locations to observe amphibious reptiles near the river or creek, to observe birds on the canopy of the forest, wait for the hummingbirds to come to the flowers.
Rafting in the San Juan waters;
Visit and swim around the island in front of the lodge;
Horseback riding;
or Just lay back on a hammock, relax and enjoy the view and hospitality.

Day 2. tour to El Castillo Fortress and Indio Maíz National Reserve.

In the morning Visit Indio Maiz National Reserve to walk through the jungle, there go to El Castillo town, have lunch and visit the Fortress, which was built by the Spaniards to protect the city of Granada from the English pirates; even the famous Lord Nelson tried to conquer it. At the end of the day returns to Sabalos Lodge

Day 3. The best of the trip. Free mourning and kayak at the afternoon.

According with my experience for you will do some activities during the morning as walk through our small private reserve, do some fishing around the lodge or just read a good book in the hammock of your porch.

After lunch around 2 or 3 afternoon, one of our boats will transfer you with singles kayak or double kayak to Sabalos River, there is an calm river with good forest around, you go around 1 hour or more in one direction, you should calculate return around 5 pm when all the birds are looking for the place to stay the night.

Instead to park the kayak on Sabalos Lodge, you stop in the island just in front of Sabalos Lodge, there you park the kayak and you are able to enjoy the rapid water. The level of the water is from the ankle to waist. The bottom of the water is from small stones, there is no mud bottom, and is great to walk in the area. In one direction you will have the view of the forest with a great sunset, and at the other side the full view of Sabalos Lodge.

If you want, you can set with the lodge, that when you arrive to the island they carry you some beers, drinks, water, sodas etc.

To return from the island to Sabalos Lodge, you will walk carrying the kayak against the current few meters to kayak easy to return to Sabalos Lodge.

Day 4. During the morning free activities in SABALOS LODGE, departure Sabalos Lodge around 10:30 am to travel to San Carlos to catch the plane to fly to Managua. (Will depend of the return fly)
